Sterling . Cylinder ridge in a 2-stroke vs a 4-stroke?

Cylinder ridge in a 2-stroke vs a 4-stroke? Last year I rebuilt the motor in my 1963 tractor, there was a ridge in each of the cylinders that I had to ream out in order to remove the pistons. I had never rebuilt an engine before. I very recently picked up an outboard motor (Evinrude, 25 horse, 1983 model). The head gasket is blown. I've removed the head and felt around within the cylinder. There is no ridge whatsoever that I can feel with my fingers. Do 2 stroke engines have less of a ridge than 4 stroke engines? I'm trying to guesstimate how many hours are on the outboard. Only paid $23 for it, and have spent $60 for a battery, $4 for plugs, $10 for gas/oil, and will spend another $50 for a new head gasket, head top gasket, and thermostat. car insurance.

Did 1977 ford 4x4 customs' have a 3' clearance to the floor pan's when they were stock? My '77 ford custom 4x4 has a 3 foot clearance to the ground from the floor pans with a 29" tire. It seems rather high to me but i do not know of a f-150 high boy. Anyone know if the trucks came being raised up that high of if something has been added to it. The only thing i can see may be a body lift but i do not know if the previous owner did this or if it came that way from the factory. Thank you for any help on this. car insurance.

Sterling . How to Change the Brakes on a GMC Envoy

The GMC Envoy uses a caliper and rotor design to maximize clamping force on the rotors and improve braking. Hydraulic fluid runs through steel tubing, called "brake line" and creates the pressure needed in the brake system to stop the vehicle. The calipers and brake pads are what physically do the stopping by creating friction against the brake rotor. The rotor is a disc connected to the drive wheels. Over time, the pad material will wear down as the lining, or brake pad, is worn away by friction. When the pads are 1/8 inch, you need to change the brakes.
Difficulty:Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Socket wrench with socket set
Rubber mallet
Zip-ties
C-clamp
Screwdrivers (flat head and Phillips head)
Tire wrench
Jack with 2 jack stands
Shop rag
Brake parts cleaner
Thread locker
Torque wrench

Step by Step :
1
Loosen the wheel lug nuts by turning them counterclockwise 1/4 turn.
2
Raise the Envoy on jack stands. Use the factory jack point in the front the vehicle. The jack points are located behind the radiator (front) and behind the trunk, near the bumper (rear). To change the front brakes, you'll need to jack up on the front of the vehicle. To change the rear, you'll need to use the rear jack point.
3
Place a jack stand under each of the four pinch welds located in the front and rear of the Envoy (if you are changing all of the brakes at once).
4
Finish loosening and remove the wheel lug nuts, and pull the wheel off the wheel hub.
5
Loosen the top and bottom caliper mounting bolts and remove the brake caliper. Then, secure the caliper to the coil springs on the suspension with zip-ties.
6
Pop the old brake pads out of the caliper using a rubber mallet. You may be able to remove them by hand, but sometimes they get stuck in the caliper. Rest the face of one of the old brake pads against the piston of the caliper and slide a c-clamp over the brake pad and caliper assembly. When you tighten the clamp, it will force the pad against the piston and force the piston back into the caliper. You need to force the piston back into the caliper so that the new, thicker, brake pads will fit.
7
Insert the new pads with the curved side of the brake pad facing inwards toward the caliper. Align the tabs on the top and bottom of the new pads with the retaining clips on the caliper and press the tabs into the retaining clips.
8
Reassemble the brake caliper. Installation/assembly is the reverse of removal.
9
Spray the entire brake assembly down with brake parts cleaner and a clean rag.

Step by Step :
10
Install the wheel and tighten the lug nuts. Lower the Envoy to the ground and torque the lug nuts to 100 lbs-ft. with a torque wrench. Set the dial on the torque wrench to 100 lbs-ft. and turn the lug nuts clockwise in a criss cross pattern with the torque wrench until the wrench clicks.

Step by Step :
11
Pump the brakes to restore brake pressure until the pedal is firm.
Tips & Warnings
Place a bead of thread locker on the threads of the caliper mounting bolts when re-installing them to help to prevent the bolts from coming loose.

Sterling . How to Change Audi TT Brakes

The Audi TT is a twin turbo sports car made by the Audi division of Volkswagen. The TT's brakes use a caliper and rotor design for all four wheels to maximize clamping force on the rotors and improve braking. Over time, the pad material will wear down as the lining, or brake pad, is worn away by friction. When the pads are 1/8 inch, you need to change the brakes.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
Socket wrench with socket set
Rubber mallet
Zip-ties
C-clamp
Screwdrivers (flat head and Phillips head)
New brake pads
Tire wrench
Jack with 2 jack stands
Shop rag
Brake parts cleaner
Thread locker
Torque wrench

Step by Step :
1
Loosen the lug nuts on the front driver's side by turning them counterclockwise 1/4 turn.
2
Jack the Audi up off the ground using the factory jack point in the front and rear of the vehicle. These jack points are located behind the radiator (front) and behind the trunk, near the bumper (rear).
3
Place a jack stand under each of the four pinch welds located in the front and rear of the TT under the car.
4
Continue to loosen and remove the wheel lug nuts and pull the wheel off the wheel hub assembly.
5
Loosen the upper and lower caliper mounting bolts and remove the caliper. It will still be attached to the brake system by a rubber brake hose. You need to secure the caliper to the Audi's coil springs with zip-ties so that you do not damage the brake line.
6
Remove the brake pads from the caliper using a rubber mallet. Place the face of the old brake pad over the caliper piston and slide a c-clamp over the brake pad and caliper assembly so that tightening the clamp will force the pad against the piston. Tighten the c-clamp to force the piston back into the caliper, but make sure that the piston boot does not twist or rip. It should fold "accordion style" into the caliper.
7
Insert the new pads with the curved side of the brake pad facing inwards toward the caliper. The tabs on the top and bottom of the brake pad should align with the retaining clips on the top and bottom of the brake caliper. Press the tabs on the brake pad into the retaining clips on the brake caliper.
8
Reassemble the brake caliper. Installation/assembly is the reverse of removal.
9
Spray the entire brake assembly down with brake parts cleaner. Wipe off any dirt or debris with a shop rag and spray the assembly down again to remove all traces of oil or grease.

Step by Step :
10
Install the wheel and tighten the lug nuts, then lower the Audi to the ground and torque the lug nuts to 100 lbs-ft. with a torque wrench. To do this, set the dial on the torque wrench to 100 lbs-ft. and turn the lug nuts clockwise with the torque wrench until the wrench clicks; this will indicate that the proper torque value has been reached.

Step by Step :
11
Pump the brakes to restore brake pressure until the pedal is firm.
Tips & Warnings
Place a dab of thread locker on the threads of the caliper mounting bolts when re-installing them. The thread locker will help to prevent the bolts from coming loose.

Take the Drive Train: Understanding Transmissions without Losing Your Mind In This Chapter g*- What a transmission does .• What the drive train is • How a manual transmission works p- How an automatic transmission works >• How a transfer case works 7he transmission system in your car is probably its most complex system in terms of automotive mechanics. But take heart; you don't have to be a mechanical genius to understand it (or I wouldn't be writing about it!). For starters, think of the transmission as a communication system that takes messages from you about whether you want to go forward or backward — and at what speed — and passes them on to the wheels. Transmission systems vary from one vehicle to another. With a manual transmission (sometimes called a standard transmission), you shift into the 401 Car Insurance 2002 isuzu 253194

proper gear at the proper time yourself, with an automatic transmission, the shifting is done for you. But the result is the same: Whether you have an auto matic or a manual transmission, the transmission transmits power from the engine and directs it to the wheels. But it doesn't do the job alone, it's part of a system that has several components, commonly known as the drive train. This chapter takes you for a ride on the drive train. By the end of the line, the transmission and its related parts should no longer be a mystery and Chapter 17, which deals with maintaining and troubleshooting the transmission, should easily become familiar territory. When your vehicle changes direction from forward to reverse, the rear wheels (or the front wheels on cars with front-wheel drive) don't just have to be told which way to rotate. They must also know how fast to turn, and they must be supplied with extra power for starting, climbing hills, and pulling heavy loads. All these things are accomplished via the drive train. By knowing what each part does and how it relates to the other parts of the drive train, you can trace the flow of power from the engine to the wheels. Here's an interesting way to look at how the drive train functions: Imagine that you are the captain of a ship. Instead of running down to the engine room and personally reversing the propellers so that the ship will move backward, you pick up the intercom and call the engine room, saying, "This is the cap tain speaking. Reverse engines!" The person in the engine room hears you and does what's necessary. The ship is saved. In a car, with a crew of one, you're still at the wheel giving orders. But you're giving them to a vehicle that can't hear you. You need a piece of machinery to communicate with other machines. In this case, that piece is your gearshift. By moving the gearshift with your hand, you can tell the transmission what to do. Then the transmission tells the wheels via the driveshaft. With the aid of the drive train, you can not only tell your wheels to go for ward or backward, but you can tell them how fast to go as well. When you step on the accelerator, you compel the engine to produce power, but that
